Stuck in Reality

For me...life becomes stagnant without art; The day to day grind.  I find myself looking for artistic inspiration on a regular basis to keep me going.  I let my mind and imagination escape through original, sometimes borderline crude or offensive art; you know, to put a smile on my face.
The art that really satisfies me is the stuff that is created to get a negative emotional rise out of people, specifically people ignorant of basic artistic expression.  That's why well thought-out street art is fun to come across.  When I'm not feeling motivated artistically I search tumblr for interesting ideas.
This past christmas I was given an expensive Nikon camera and have started figuring out the techniques of photography.  I didn't realize how challenging the art of photography could be.  To understand more fully, I plan on making the most of my fall break up in the mountains attempting to catch the right lighting and fall leaves.

I'll see you sucka's in class.......

  1. I have to agree with you, I too enjoy the shock value of "risky" street art. I chase the emotion as well as the inspiration and push to look outside the box.

  2. That Mona Lisa picture is the best. I laughed so hard when I saw it. I like offensive art sometimes too because it pushes boundaries & sometimes people need a push . . .

  3. I will agree that offensive art, on occasion, can pull an emotional response that is healthy and well-needed. However, I think there is a line that is often crossed in trying to accomplish this. A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Guggenheim Museum in New York. I was absolutely shocked by some of the things they represented as art. There was one exhibit, in particular, I could not grasp as art. It was full of vivid images and pictures of rape. To me, while that still creates an emotional response like art is meant to do, it is simply not appropriate.

    1. Jesssssssssssssssssssica,

You are right. There is a line, appropriate on one side and too-much on the other. Just like non-fiction writing, there is a grey area too, that is hard to define.
