Move Ya Body

"There are two people in this world. Michael Jackson fans and losers." --Seth Green

I love this quote because I think it is so true!  Who doesn't love Michael Jackson?  Before I get into that though let me back up. I was surfing the net a few days ago and came across The Robot Boys.  These two were finalists on Denmark's Got Talent.  And boy do they!  I have always been fascinated with people who can move their bodies like this.  The skill and practice that must go into this boggles my mind.

I wondered where The Robot Boys got their moves, and the first dancer to pop into my head was Michael Jackson.  The singers Usher and Justin Timberlake have admitted to copying MJ to get their "signature" moves.  I watched some of his old music videos, and like always, I was grinning from ear to ear watching him.  Damn! The man could dance and entertain.  No wonder people loved him.

I am of the opinion that most great hip/street dancers have copied him.  All the moves I see other dancers doing, he did first.  For example, go to this video and fast forward to 4:45.  And if you want to really be entertained watch the rest.  The man was amazing, but I think we already know that.

Another artist I was really surprised by with her dancing ability was P!nk.  Her video Try shows off her skills as a dancer.  And here I just thought she was a punk singer.  But her gracefulness and athleticism is really showcased in this video.

Being one who can find the rhythm but really has two left feet when it comes to any type of dancing, I am jealous of dancers who can leap and fall and twist through the air while making it beautiful and effortless-looking.

In my dreams I can move like these people.  In reality, though, I'm the dork that moves her body but looks ridiculous doing it.

  1. You remember Elaine on Seinfeld and her dancing? It is described on the show as a "full bodied dry heave set to music". That about sums up my own grace. It doesn't stop me from wanting to dance. And when I do, my boxer spins around in circles and hops up and down. I suppose I should be flattered that he imitates me.

  2. Oh yeah! How could I forget Elaine's dancing? I love that show! Own it actually. My boxer jumps up and down too when I dance and wonders what I'm doing. It's pretty cute. We should have our boxers play together. I bet they'd love it!

  5. Michael Jackson was a dance entrepreneur. The style that he created was extremely original; In fact, it had never been seen before. Amazed at this new way of body movement, people have been copying his signature moves and style ever since. Imitation truly is the largest form of flattery. So every time you dance and are imitated (boxers included)just try to think of that and let your guard down. Dance to your heart's content no matter how silly you think you look!:)
