Thank a tree today
Trees are underrated. I don't think we enjoy their giant presence as much as we should. They are constantly providing us with shade. They are always trying to get our attention, shimmering the light of the sun or moon on their majestically colored leaves, yet we walk by with out even a quick smile or acknowledgment. I'm starting to think that the season of fall is just an excuse for the trees to be sad

because of everyone's lack of awareness. Let's stop being so shunning toward the shy, branchy wonders of the world. Take a moment to think of a time when you actually recognized how important these lanky plants are. Maybe it was on a beach tying up a small hammock, or maybe it was in the mountains using their sturdy trunks to rig a tent. Never the less, we need to praise their unique smells and unique looks. The next time you step outside take an extra pause to look at a tree. They will know that you did.
I love this post!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking just the other day how much I love bare trees in the winter. I love seeing the dendritic structure of the branches with their repeating fractal patterns. You are so right, we don't appreciate them enough.
I LOVE trees! At one point I wanted to make saving trees a career. I take pictures of them, talk to them, hug them...I'm kind of a hippy. =) I'm glad you posted this because not many people pay attention to trees, and without them we couldn't live...what with the breathing and all. =)
ReplyDeleteIm glad you pay attention to trees too. :) trees are the bees knees!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad there's other tree huggers out there! I get attached to my plants about as much as my pets. I'm convinced they are more aware than any of us actually realize. One of the most unforgettable experiences I had was when I was on vacation when I was 14 and we went to see the Redwood forests. All these tall giants, hundreds of years old. I could feel their energy all around me. It was overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteRedwoods truly are amazing..Its one of my dreams to own a house in a redwood, as silly as it sounds. I think I would bake cookies in it and live like the keebler elves. :)
