"I just want to paint pretty pictures"

Well world, I came home today to my room mate painting a beautiful picture. The picture was of flowers and she seemed to be in a great mood. It was the first time she had painted in a while, so she was extra happy to get back into her happy place. She wrapped up her painting for the day because of layering issues, and began to prance around. Her good mood seemed to heighten, a lot, as she began jumping and dancing around more joyously than normal.

"I am in the best mood ever!!!!" she proclaimed, as she rolled around the ground. My roommate is normally fairly upbeat but this behavior was a little strange, even for her. As I walked into her room again, I noticed how fragrant the chemicals were from the oil paints. Fragrant actually is the wrong word, nauseatingly strong is more accurate. My roommates eyes began to redden and I put two and two together as my she rolled around on her floor laughing alone- she was high off of the oil paints!

A very innocent action turned into a hilarious accident that was extremely entertaining to watch. I feel like sometimes in life these kinds of incidents can happen to us too, in more subtle ways. We may not always accidentally get high off of paint fumes, but it may be true that we take a seemingly harmless task and suffer some real consequences. Sometimes I think my generation goes through life without thinking a lot of things through, and for it we can find our selves in sticky situations.
Now I'm not saying we all sit and think, "If I paint here, will I get high?" but we should realize that life comes fast and doesn't always give us a good grace period. We should always appreciate what we have and think before we speak and so on.

On second thought, I'm not too sure where this post is going or how it relates to anything. maybe some of the fumes she moved to the kitchen table where I am writing this have seeped into my brain too... :)

Goodnight!!

    Amen!

Sometimes it feels like our whole lives we are just adjusting to changes rather than being an agent of change.
