What was I thinking

If you've ever seen a sensationally intoxicated person just suddenly fall over you have a decent idea of what it means to not know your own limits.  But harder to gauge than alcohol are our commitments.  And it isn't usually until well past the point where we can back out that we realize that we may have over-committed ourselves.  As a college student, the point where we are absolutely certain that we have taken on too much is usually within 2 weeks of the end of the semester.  Here is a quick list of signs that indicate you, as a college student, have taken on too much this semester.

  • You said your prayers this morning and you prayed to be hit by a car.
  • Your homework has tear stains.
  • People describe your work area as an "avalanche prone zone".
  • Any condiment on any piece of bread, no matter how stale, is the only meal you have time for.
  • You just keep muttering to yourself "What was I thinking?"
  • You have punched a textbook.
  • You have punched a textbook and it made you feel better.
  • You have thrown a text book.
  • You have thrown a textbook and it hit something valuable.
  • The valuable thing you broke with the launched textbook cost less than the textbook and this made you punch the textbook.

  1. The last comment was absolute gold. It's ridiculous how expensive texts books are and I hate it!

  2. Over commitment is a struggle for so many people. I can completely relate to that overwhelming sense of impending due dates and exams. I haven't quite done all the things on your checklist (which is hilariously accurate) but I can sure appreciate it.

  3. Haha! I can say I have never punched a textbook since I use my hands to massage people and need them to be in working condition, but I have wanted to scream at my teachers. Does that count? =) Good luck with the next couple weeks!
