Yuliya, not Julia

Ever since I came to America, everyone called me Julia since the name Yuliya was not as common.  I didn't like it but never said anything about it until about ninth grade.  Why the ninth grade you ask? The summer before, I had gone back for the first time and visited my country (Ukraine) and became more in touch with my prideful side.  "Hey Jul-"... "It's YULIYA!"  It felt great and it felt even greater hearing a better variation of my name being said. '

Guess which one i am.
Yuliya.  It's pronounced like Julia, but with a "Y" so get it right.  Yes, I have attitude.  I'm loud, outgoing, positive, lively and bossy.  I like things my way, I like attention and I'm pretty blunt and straight forward.  I have a pretty good idea of who I am, where im going in life and what I want out of it.

As is true for anyone, everyone has many layers to them, like an onion or cabbage I guess.  I put out a hard exterior most of the time.  Not that I want to, it's just how I've always been.  Some of the things I enjoy doing people don't expect.  I like to paint, write poetry, ponder nature and the world, be around children and go to art museums.  The part that everyone sees is the part that is super social, goes out every weekend, laughs a lot and is never down.

Not gonna lie, my first impressions are usually not the best.  The way I see it is that fifty percent of the world will like you and the other fifty percent won't.  So don't expect me to go cry a river and think hard about how I can get you to like me, chances are, I won't even remember your name.

  1. Hey Julia, ..ah shit, I mean yuliya, I know you hate when I do that. Honest mistake; I'm glad you compared yourself to an onion, I was thinking the same thing about you. The ogre Shrek, on the movie "Shrek" tries to explain to Donkey that he is like an onion too, and you remind me of Shrek a lot. Ha..just kidding, you are a bit less green. anyways, that is the first thing I thought of when I read that.

I like to paint too. What are some of the more exciting things that you paint? Acrylic? Watercolors? Oil? I hope to visit Ukraine one day. What is the best thing about Ukraine?
