Art is in the heART

If the adorable title didn't lure you in, then perhaps you are just smART. Any how, I like art.  Almost everything about it is a passion deep inside me that drives me creatively, and has since I was a boy.  I think all of us carry this quality somewhere (Some of us less than others.  Some of us don't really know we possess it).

I just want to share one of the many ways I express my artistic side (the website at the bottom of this picture, under this paragraph).  This is a clothing company that a very tight group of friends and I made in 2010.  We made it to stay close and always remember our childhood.  Art through extreme sports is kind of the theme; Its what we all had in common that brought us together in Jr. High and High School. We all skateboard and snowboard and ride bikes, and all of us are super creative in different ways.  I invite you to check out the website and let me know what you think.  Check out the two videos on the site that we made this summer.  They're called lookbooks; small artsy clips that companies use to promote their product, but we make them for an excuse to hangout.

My good friend Kyle is a graphic designer that works for Skull Candy (headphones) and is awesome with the camera.  I'm the artist that drew up the face of the company (the rebellious character with the black VNDLS beanie.  Cody is in the background of the picture above; he is inspiration covered in tattoos and cruises in his custom built Harley Davison.  The old biker bearded fella above is Kyle's dad and a huge supporter of the art (he's a BAMF, that drives a Harley Fat Boy).  We are VNDLS 'til death.

  1. ohhhhh snaps! didn't know you were a bad as. When i read the title i was like, "oh here we go, im gonna be reading about some 1700's BS" but this was pretty good :))))

I like art that i different and is untraditional. I feel that when someone paints a painting, or makes a piece of art work it is no longer theirs. it belongs to the world. whatever the meaning that they put forth on it is no longer "right" or "wrong" and is open for interpretation. thats why one image can mean so many different things. thats why i love it so much. :DDD

PS. loveee the last picture :DD

  2. I love the social aspect of art that you talk about in this article. Your friends are obviously close, and everyone involved in this project must mean a lot to you. The ability for everyone in your circle to go ahead and do this project, VNDLS,is very cool. You're making art while hanging out with your best friends. And it sounds like the art has strengthened the bonds of friendship, as well.
